Who I Am

Hi, I’m the person behind MyFERSGuide.

I started this site after seeing how confusing federal retirement information can be — scattered across dense OPM documents, outdated forum threads, and government pages that assume you already know the terminology. As someone who spent years digging through FERS, TSP, and Social Security rules to make sense of my own retirement planning, I realized a lot of federal employees were looking for the same thing: clear, practical answers without the jargon.

That’s what MyFERSGuide is built to do. Every article here is researched directly from official sources — OPM.gov, TSP.gov, and SSA.gov — and written to explain not just what the rules are, but what they actually mean for your day-to-day decisions.

I’m not a certified financial advisor, and nothing on this site should be taken as personalized financial, legal, or tax advice. My goal is to help you understand your options clearly enough to ask the right questions — whether that’s to your HR office, a financial advisor, or your own research — so you can make confident decisions about your retirement.

This site is updated regularly to reflect changes in TSP contribution limits, FEHB premiums, and federal retirement rules, because I know how much it matters to have accurate, current information when you’re planning something as important as your retirement.
